You might as well be happy. The world doesn't care if you're miserable.

long time no write

Man, the last time I did this was about a bajillion years ago!  So much news!

Back in Newport News and have been for some time now.  This apartment living is fantastic and so is my roommate.

Classes have started and that's that.  School is school and it looks like I'll be attending all of my classes all of the time.  Some because they're interesting and some because the attendance policy doesn't let me take a day off.

I'm working again at Lincoln Financial and that's ok.  Its not nearly as cool as it was during tax season but the people are so good to me that I'll stay for a while-at least until another job comes along.  Stupid bills.

In more recent news, I had an amazing weekend.  Friday night @ Forish's was a success and turned out to be the percect girl's night in..so much food :-D  Had a girl's night out on Saturday when we hit up Peabody's in VA Beach..good times   To top off a perfect weekend we headed back to VA Beach today to help Jon with his kickoff and that was fun times too.  The weather was great so we rode with windows open and music loud-and I didn't drive so that was an even bigger plus.

I also got a tour of Ferguson tonight-the part that's not open yet.  I can thank Jeffrey and his sunglasses that picked the lock for the grand tour.   I'm a sneaky girl but that was hardcore-it was AWESOME   Oh, and the Ferguson center is B-E-A-U-tiful!

Now I think I"ll go to bed to sleep away this cold that's trying to get me down...can't let that happen!

bout time for an update

Much has happened since I have last felt the urge to update this nifty little thing.  My current condition of being sick and dying has encouraged me to do something more productive than switch cold compresses on my body. Wahoo!

My birthday was June 12 and there was a get together at my place and it was mucho fun.  Thank you to allll of you who came to make it fantastic (and to those of you who couldnt come but sent good suprises!)  I got lots of cool stuff to put in this new apartment.  And my girls are so sweet; they even got Jeffrey scrub brushes! How thoughtful!

Speaking of apartment business, we have one now which is good news.  That means I can stop stressing about being homeless this semester.  Second floor, end unit, me so excited!

I also went to visit Jeffrey in Richmond a while ago to have dinner at this cool little place.  Something about a really cool elevator...?  It was good times and fantastic food once I found my way there.  Stupid 288.

I also went to the beach this weekend with my bestest Jen, my momma, and her best friend.  It was very good times.  We had PERFECT beach weather on Saturday.  Seriously, I couldn't have ordered better weather.  It was sunshiney and warm (but not too warm) all day long and the breeze that was blowing was just enough to keep you cool.  Jen and I ended up getting in the water, which we said we wouldn't do, but we did, and we had so much fun!  Then we ate at Captain George's which is really exciting if you like seafood, but I don't.  I dealt with it anyway since everyone else did and the dessert they had was way worth it.  That night I ended up sick in bed by 9pm and thats about where I am tonight.

Casey is at Massanutten this week which is WAY exciting news!  My hopes are to get the heck better before she heads outta town.   In fact, I would love to get better by Thursday so I could bring her to a Blue Sox game!  The boys are doing really well!  Oh, and for my birthday, Sam hit a home run for me and blew me a kiss AND gave me big hugs.  I'm such a dork, haha.

I got a postcard from Tess!  It wasn't from Paris, but she was still way sweet to send it to me.  I miss that girl.   In fact, I miss all of you so much and cannot wait for our glorious return to CNU.

I had such a fantastic weekend with my 354s. Seriously, that was just what I needed! Aside from watching 8 episodes of One Tree Hill (Jen bought the first season) we went to Herndon Festival which was mucho fun and spent time with Matt and Ashley and James! And oh how I miss James and his commentary during our shows, haha. It was fun times to celebrate my birthday since Jen and Laura will both be in PA when all the good party time fun rolls around here this weekend.

While I was gone, my baseball boys had a game and they won 18-4. Apparently it was an awesome game with my Sam hitting a 3 run home run so I'm thinking maybe I should just stay gone. Maybe I'm bad luck. Tomorrow we'll see because we've got an away game and I'm going and bringing a fan club; I'm determined we will win. I heart baseball.

I'm back at the branch in ETown for the next 4 weeks. One of the girls is going to have a baby soon so I'll be around covering. I'm glad to be so close to home because that means I can sleep in longer. It also just means I have to put up with working with older women who freeze me to death because they're constantly having hot flashes. They also discuss health issues that I have no desire to hear or talk about for at least another 20 years. That's ok, though, I love them anyway and I'm starting to hate this banking thing less and less.

I'm unusually tired for this time of night. I guess I really shouldn't be that suprised-I went to the park and ran around like a crazy person and then came home and played in the pool like a crazy person. I looovveee summertime! Enjoy the rest of the week kids, and I can't wait to see some of you verrrrrry soon!

strawberries and rainbows and russian babies

So, here are a few high(and low) lights of the week...

I saw the biggest and brightest and most beautiful rainbow ever!!  If you know me, you know that I HATE rainy days..but this time, the storms were worth it to see something so brilliant.

I started to like my job this week; some really cute old man brought me fresh picked strawberries. They were the best strawberries ever!

We buried my Aunt Shelly yesterday at Arlington so that was not so much fun.  The better news is that the rain held off just long enough for the service and even better than that is the fact that my family is strong.

Coming back from Arlington we passed an exit for Herndon which is where Jen lives so that made me think of her and call her and through the course of our conversation we finalized plans for my birthday weekend in Herndon where we will have a roommate reunion. I am oh so excited!

Merrick and I decided at work today that it would be a good idea to make a list of things we need.  Here's a glimpse of mine:

pink flowers, more sunshiney days, chocolate ice cream, shorter banking days, a bigger paycheck, jeffrey time (i love you and miss you so much!), the beach, God, a little less talk, a lot more action, more country music......and then we decided to end our lists with peace on earth.   As you may have guessed, the aforementioned needs are listed in no particular order.

I also decided this week that I will be adopting at least one baby from another country, probably Russia.  More details on this later.

I hope you all had a fantastic week and I can't wait to see most of you very soon! :-*

sir mixalot

At the conclusion of yet another full week of work, I have just a few things to get off my chest.

Rant #1: Stupid people

Phone rings. I answer "Good morning/afternoon.  Thank you for calling BB&T Bridgewater.  This is Ashley, may I help you?"

Caller: "My name is so and so and I would like to get a balance (or I have a question).  I have an account there.

Me:  "Really?  You have an account here?  I would never guess that you would call the bank at which you have an account."

Next scenario:

Me: Good morning, sir.  What can I do for you?

Sir: I just need to cash this (1200 dollar, personally written) check.

Me: Sure (Starting to process the withdrawal).  I'll just need to see your driver's license.

Sir: You what?  I've been banking here for years! Why do you need to see my ID?!

Me: Well, you see sir-I don't know you.  Do you know me?  Would you give me 1200 dollars that you're responsible for just because I was who I said I was?  I'll be honest with you, sir.  We ask for IDs just to piss people like you off.  It has NOTHING to do with bank security and your protection.

Rant #2: Crappy drivers

I'm a woman and I'm an OK driver.  Not the best, but not the worst, by far.  I like to drive on the interstate, and this week I've had to every day.  There's a very short weaving lane to get on and off I-81 in Harrisonburg; in fact, it's one of the most dangerous places on 81.  But here's a newsflash: STOPPING is NOT what you're supposed to do to make your way onto the interstate.  Slow down, sure. Stop? HECK NO!  That makes merging into the rest of traffic even MORE dangerous.

Rant #3:  People who house a lack of consideration/effort

Generally speaking, I try to be as considerate as possible.  I go out of my way to make things happen for me and for other people I care about.  Lately, such consideration and effort has been far from reciprocated.  I guess that I could turn this into a rant about me as I will just assume I always expect too much, but this isn't what thats about.  It's about you (probably most of you) letting people down with your inconsiderations and effort lackage. So there.

To balance this not so positive entry...

Lots of baseball this weekend!

I got free pizza AND cheesy bread tonight! (Because Domino's screwed up, they had to make my pizza over, offered me free cheesy bread and when the guy brought it out to me I told him I didn't pay and he was like "nah, don't worry about it." So I didn't

I'm about to go hang out with a verrry cool kid!

Casey comes soooooon! :-D

and the weather's not gonna stay crappy!

Have a faaaantastic weekend, thanks for reading
